Cigdem Aslan

Çigdem Aslan is a rising star in the revival of rebetiko, songs of an exiled underclass of Greece and Turkey in the turbulent 1920s.. Rebetiko was famously outlawed in both countries as a music of the underground, Çigdem revisits the world of the past and opens the door on these old songs which speak about the life, love, hopes and struggles of everyday people giving them new relevance.
