Peninsula Arts Contemporary Music Festival 2013 - Sensing Memory: As the Leaves Fall, By the Water, Those Snowy Hills, Come Ever Closer: Will McNicol
Can we see how music affects the brain and use the findings to compose new work? Could an intelligent computer write emotional music? How do key, tone and melody combine to unlock feelings and memories? How do we express the loss of memory in music?
Drawing on both classical and electronic music, Sensing Memory combines innovative research into the neuroscience of listening and Artificial Intelligence with world class performances by leading musicians and ensembles.
The festival explores the theme of memory as a virtual sixth sense - through inward journeys of the human brain and the pursuit of lost memories of childhood, forgotten ancestors and global connections.
