The Endellion String Quartet, one of the world’s finest, celebrates 35 years of
playing together with a residency in the Ryedale Festival. After opening with one of the most ambitious of all Haydn’s quartets they will play a work by Ravel which, when it was shown to him, caused Debussy to exclaim, ‘In the name of the gods of music and in my own, do not touch a single note of your Quartet!’ They also perform the first of Beethoven’s Razumovsky quartets, with its astonishingly rich range of expression and mood.
