Monteverdi: The Coronation Of Poppea
A rare opportunity to see a staging of Monteverdi's greatest opera composed in Venice in 1642.
It tells the story of a beautiful courtesan's ruthless ascent to the throne as Nero's wife and features some of the most ravishingly sensuous music of the 17th Century. A rich period ensemble accompanies a sparkling young cast in this new production from Yorkshire's Ryedale Festival in a new translation by John Warrack.
