An Evening In Paris
A magical night of music from two great Perthshire artists inspired by Parisienne icons Edith Piaf and The Hot Club de Paris.
An Evening In Paris with Lesley Mackie as Edith Piaf in Toujours L'Amour and Alex Yellowlees, Hot Club Jazz Quartet.
Two premier league Perthshire-based performers and their ensembles transport us from The Fair City to The City Of Light for a magical night of music inspired by legendary Parisienne icons Edith Piaf and The Hot Club de Paris.
The acclaimed Toujours l’Amour tells the story of Piaf’s turbulent life and loves in words as well as music. The songs are at the heart of the show, and include such well-known titles as La Vie En Rose and Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien as well as many other familiar chansons, all sung superbly by Olivier Award-winner Lesley Mackie in their original French. She will be joined by Michael Ellacott on piano and narrator Terry Wale.
Violinist Alex Yellowlees is a modern-day Stephane Grappelli with virtuoso guitarists Ged Brockie and Mike Nisbet providing the Django Reinhardt rhythm and double bassist Kenny Ellis anchoring the authentic Hot Club sound on double bass. Together they perform exciting, intoxicating and truly inspirational swing jazz, laced with Latin rhythms and spiced with some Celtic gypsy flair.
