When country beauty Lise falls in love with farm lad Colas, she is about to upset the apple cart. Her mother, Widow Simone, would much rather she marry Alain, the son of a pompous and wealthy vineyard owner, even though he is somewhat dim-witted and the proud possessor of two left feet.
