Nature Theater of Oklahoma

“The greatest story never told..?” The Festival is delighted to present the hotly anticipated first visit to the UK by New York’s Nature Theater of Oklahoma.

Life and Times is their epic portrait of an unremarkable life, generated from one single, simple question to a friend: “can you tell me your life story?”.

The world premiere of Episode 4.5 & 5 of Life And Times has been commissioned specially for Norfolk & Norwich Festival. Beginning with a 30 minute animated film and ending with a medieval illuminated manuscript, the story continues and expands into new and exciting graphic territory.
Episode 4.5 starts with the end of high school and the search for love – from the older boys in science class to seeking solace in the comfort of the family cat. The film features an original soundtrack recorded by a full orchestra.
There are even more unexpected twists and turns in Episode 5 with the first sexual experience presented as a 140 page hand-drawn, hand-calligraphed illuminated manuscript. Working with the devotion of 16th century copyist monks, using the techniques of early medieval bookmaking, directors Kelly and Pavol have drawn and lettered every page of the story in glorious detail.

An age guidance of 16 and over is suggested for Episodes 4.5 & 5 as they contain content of a sexual nature.
