Doug Allan: Freeze Frame – The Author’s Perspective

Unique and exciting personal insights into the trials and tribulations of filming animals in the wildest places on earth.
author talk

Doug Allan spent seven years in Antarctica as a research diver, scientist and photographer for the British Antarctic Survey, before changing direction to full time filming in 1983. He is now one of the world’s best known and respected cameramen, recognised for his work on series like The Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Frozen Planet, Ocean Giants and Operation Iceberg. He was heard recently on Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs.

He’s also the author of Freeze Frame - The Adventures of a Wildlife Cameraman on Ice. And in this talk he’ll be offering unique and exciting personal insights into the trials and tribulations of filming animals in the wildest places on Earth. Doug will also pick his most memorable moments and pictures from his book, and he’ll tell why he felt the passion to write the book in the first place, and the path it took to self publication.

Doug’s enthusiasm for communicating his deep understanding of the biology of the animals and the psychology of film-makers make this presentation both engaging and inspirational. It’s suitable for a wide range of ages and audiences, from youngsters to adults, from scientists to artists. For book lovers whoever they are.
