It is hard to believe that a young musician from the Midlands could develop a style so reminiscent of the classic soul artists of the 50s and 60s whilst maintaining a sense of modernity and freshness, yet this is what Leigh Coleman conjures in his songwriting and performance, influenced by Michael Jackson, George Benson, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Dean Martin. The original songs on his album It Is What It Is are the real deal. From the breathy tones of Got What I Wanted to the sunny feel of the title track, Leigh’s music and songs feel good and leave you wanting more.
