Two of Britain's most popular instrumental groups, are touring together for the first time. Their leaders, Jonny Phillips and Ben Davis share a constant desire to create music that is fresh and alive. Oriole's beguiling sound, which borrows from Brazilian and Spanish traditions, will be complimented by the jazz and classical influences of Basquiat Strings. The maverick drummer Seb Rochford will feature in both groups. The evening promises to be a journey through sonic landscapes, from raw, earthy warmth to delicate elegance.

Jonny Phillips' Oriole

Led by guitarist Jonny Phillips this unique fusion outfit plays modern original compositions. Expect superb live jazz from this not-to-be-missed South London-based ensemble. The Oriole line-up includes two Mercury Award nominated artists, Ben Davis and Seb Rochford. Basquiat Strings

The Mercury Prize nominated Basquiat Strings, who blend Hungarian and jazz influences in their richly textured take on classical string groupings. Fronted by cellist Ben Davis, The Basquiat Strings have added Richard Pryce's double bass and Seb Rochford's mesmeric drums to the classical string quartet. The result is stunning and driving music that is totally original. 'They rock' (The Guardian).
