Cajon Beginners Workshop
The cajon (wooden box) is the smallest drum kit in the world and makes the perfect accompaniment instrument to any kind of band, be it blues, hip-hop, boogie, rock, pop, folk or Latin, providing a full snare and rich bass sound. Cajones come in various shapes, sizes and styles, and during this workshop you’ll get hands-on experience to discover the range of possibilities this versatile instrument can provide.
Covering tones, exercises and rhythms, the workshop is suitable for kit- and hand-drummers alike. Please bring a cajon (with snare) if you have one, or contact education@stables.org if you need to borrow one (limited numbers available).
Ravin ‘Raz’ Jayasuriya is a professional percussionist and award-winning tutor with more than 20 years’ experience, specialising in Cuban and Brazilian music. He runs workshops and courses for all levels of ability throughout the UK.
Tea/coffee provided.
Suitable for ages 15 and over.
