An information packed day that aims to demystify music theory – perfect for beginners looking for a way into understanding music, as well as for intermediate or experienced musicians looking for a refresher or to fill gaps in their knowledge.

Starting with the most basic terminology and theory, the day covers the nature of sound, how music started, pitch, scales, and chords, what the key of a song is and how to find it, and what some of the more complicated ideas mean.

The day will be particularly helpful to those taking their first steps in learning to play, whatever the instrument. Course leader Pete Normanton is a highly experienced musician and guitar teacher, specialising in making music accessible to non-musicians.
