For the last two years the Brussels Philharmonic have made a number of highly successful visits to London and have showed themselves to be one of the most exciting orchestras to emerge from Europe for some time.
We are delighted that they are coming to Middlesbrough to perform for us in a programme that opens with Borodin’s highly theatrical Polovtsian Dances. This will be followed by the brilliant young Russian violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky’s performance of Sibelius’ ethereal Violin Concerto.
In the second half we will have the rare opportunity to hear the grand and opulent Symphony No. 3 by Saint Saens, known as the Organ Symphony because of its use of the organ as a central element of the symphony.
