Anne Boleyn by Howard Brenton
This play was commissioned by Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, and premiered in 2010. This historical drama casts a new light on the life and death of one of British history's most charismatic characters - Henry VIII's second and most controversial wife.
Seventy years on from her death, the newly crowned King James I is rummaging through some possessions of the late Queen Elizabeth I when he finds startling evidence that Anne was a religious conspirator as well as Henry's true love.
Through a series of flashbacks we learn what really did happen and how it changed the course of English history.
