Manchester Fringe Festival - Len Johnson: Fighter
The story of the greatest British middleweight never to be champion. Denied this opportunity because of his colour. This extraordinary man continued his fight against discrimination after his retirement from the ring. In 1946 along with his comrades Wilf Charles and Syd Booth they formed “The New International Society". They campaigned for many causes at home and abroad.
This story exposes the depths of racism inherent in British society. It is a story a true working class hero, who fought for all regardless of race or creed. A visionary and true internationalist.
"I’m here to meet all comers and all comers I must meet" Len Johnson
