Perspectives14: Patriotism

Perspectives14 is a series of monthly talks and discussions led by artists and historians at IWM North to mark the First World War Centenary.

Aspects of patriotism during the First World War are explored to coincide with the launch of the Great War issue of the Manchester Region History Review. Contributors to the issue, Helen McCartney and David Swift, will discuss local patriotism in the North West and working class patriotism during the First World War and beyond.

Helen McCartney is a Senior Lecturer in Defence Studies and King’s College, London and David Swift is a current PhD student at UCLan.

The event will be chaired by Dr Nick Mansfield, Senior Research Fellow in History at UCLan and is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s First World War Centenary Engagement Centres.
