Reactions14 : Second Breath
Join in for an evening of dance, poetry, music and conversation as part of Museums At Night, the first time IWM North has delivered such an exclusive and intimate contemporary programme. As the light dims we shall bring to life the Main Exhibition Space with a performance by the English National Ballet entitled Second Breath, choreographed by internationally acclaimed British choreographer Russell Maliphant. This is the first time Maliphant has collaborated with a classical ballet company on a new commission, which fuses classical traditions with modern dance. A one off, not to be missed opportunity to explore the historic inspirations for his work.
The evening includes poetry performances, dance demos, and Vintage DJs. Take the chance to experience Vertical Echoes, a new installation by sound artist Bill Fontana, harnessing the dramatic First World War sounds which will rise and fall within IWM North’s 55m high Air Shard.
Delve deeper with pop-up interventions in From Street To Trench: A World War that Shaped a Region, the largest and most impressive exhibition to commemorate the contribution made by the region to the First World War.
Enjoy music and evening views across The Quays from the WaterShard Café & Kitchen, which will be serving site prepared food, locally sourced beers, wines and soft drinks.
