Loughborough University Choir, LSU Sing!

One of Loughborough's favourite pre-Christmas events returns on Wednesday December 3rd when Loughborough University Choir comes to the Cope Auditorium with its hugely popular annual Christmas Concert.

The choir is made up of staff members, students and members of the local community, all of whom share a great enthusiasm and joy in singing.

The programme will include many new modern carols as well as the old sing-along carol favourites and, in a brand new venture, there will be a chance to join in his famous Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah.

To help them with the festivities, the Choir will be joined by LSU Sing! (formerly the LSU Gospel Choir) and the University String Orchestra. The Orchestra, renowned for their wide repertoire, will also be performing other selections from Messiah.

The concert will be led by regular conductor Eleanor Graff-Baker. Eleanor read Music at Queen’s College, Oxford, where she was a Choral Bursar and a member of Schola Cantorum and is an Associate of the Royal College of Music. Her career has combined performance as a violinist and singer with composition and musical direction.

Accompanying the singers will be Russian born pianist Eleanora Babitsky. Eleonora studied at the Gnessin Music institute, Moscow and was a regular performer with the Soviet State Philharmonic Society, specialising in chamber music. Much in demand as a master class accompanist for string players, Eleonora has played for Igor Oistrakh, Daniel Shafran, Vladimir Spivakov, Michael Flaxman and many other distinguished musicians in Russia, Austria, France, Czechoslovakia, Italy and Germany.
