Fire, Earth and Water: East Asian Pottery and Porcelain

SHORT COURSE: Explore the fascinating ceramic traditions of East Asia, focusing on the key regions of China, Korea
and Japan.

A rich variety of ceramic typologies will be introduced and an appreciation of the impact of technological and artistic change from the Neolithic to the modern period will be developed. Taking the celebrated V&A ceramics collection as its main focus, study visits to the V&A Ceramics Galleries will be used in conjunction with lectures and handling
sessions to bring this subject to life.
