The Reverend Donald Reeves

After retiring as rector of St James Piccadilly in 1998, Donald Reeves MBE turned his formidable talents to the complex and demanding work of international peacebuilding. Donald is co-founder and director of Soul of Europe, an NGO working as a mediation body in Bosnia, Kosovo and Serbia and beyond, preparing the ground for the possibilities of reconciliation. Peace-building is demanding, exhausting work. Faced with constant denial, rage and suffering, peace-building requires tenacity, patience, dignity and a willingness to take risks. Amidst all these difficulties Donald has found that Bach's music is immeasurably life-enhancing, a testimony to the gift of hope for the human spirit.

In the glowing atmosphere of Union Chapel, Donald will speak about his experiences and future plans as a peace-builder, interspersed with playing some of Bach's Chorale Preludes on the Chapel's magnificent newly restored Henry Willis organ.

This event is free, but there will be a collection for the vital work of Soul of Europe.
