Days Of Wine And Roses
The year is 1962. Arkle - the greatest racehorse of all time - is in his prime, troubles are brewing in Ireland, and London seems like the centre of the world. Donal and Mona are meeting in a Belfast airport, full of youthful dreams of escapism and bright-eyed optimism; a few swigs of whiskey later and they are in London. Lost in an unfamiliar world, the couple soon find themselves caught in alcoholism’s inescapable web.
Originally an Oscar-winning movie, Owen McCafferty has reimagined this timeless story of love and addiction for the stage. Days Of Wine And Roses appeared at Tobacco Factory Theatres, earlier this year, as part of the Directors’ Cuts 2014 season presented by the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. The season played to sell-out audiences, and received critical acclaim.
