Alexander Hawkins
Alexander Hawkins is a musician 'unlike anything else in modern creative music' (Ni Kantu), whose recent work has been said to have reached a 'dazzling new apex' (Downbeat).
Although frequently heard leading his own Ensemble, with such groups as The Convergence Quartet and Decoy, or indeed as a sideman to the likes of Louis Moholo-Moholo, Joe McPhee, Mulatu Astatke and many others, he performs extremely rarely as a solo pianist (with the most recent instance being for broadcast on Italy's Rai Tre network).
