Elefest Film Weekender
Free film screenings, children’s workshops and live music rescores will provide something for everyone this year as part of Elefest, the Elephant and Castle Festival, now in its 12th year. The film events will run from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th October at the extraordinary, hidden treasure The Cinema Museum, home to a unique collection of movie artefacts, memorabilia and equipment,
Highlights of the weekend include the world premiere of a new rescore to the classic Czech sci-fi adventure film ‘The Fabulous World of Jules Verne’ performed live by The McCarricks, children’s workshops creating sci-fi / slapstick comedy short films, a “Sci-Fi 70 All-nighter!” presented by cult film club Filmbar70 featuring films from psychotronic weirdness to sexy trash guaranteed to expand the mind and frazzle the senses, The Cabinet of Living Cinema performing live to Harold Lloyd’s classic Safety Last! plus a screening of hit British sci-fi film ‘Attack the Block’ with Q&A from special guest actor Alex Esmail who plays Pest in the film, which was filmed down the road on the infamous and now mostly demolished Heygate Estate.
