Dom Sylvester Houédard And The Cosmic Typewriter
This one-day event celebrates the life and legacy of Dom Sylvester Houédard (1929–92), the Benedictine monk and concrete poet who was a pivotal figure in an international constellation of artists in the 1960s that included John Cage, Bob Cobbing, Ian Hamilton Finlay and Allen Ginsberg.
Dom Sylvester Houédard and the Cosmic Typewriter – a long-overdue homage to Houédard – features a creative symposium, open-mic session, archival display, film screening, book launch and performances of a selection of his poem scores.
Participants include Stephen Bann, Guy Brett, John Furnival, Lynda Morris, Rick Poynor, Jasia Reichardt, David Toop and Cerith Wyn Evans, among many others.
