London Jazz Festival : Rodriguez
The story of Sixto Diaz Rodriguez is undoubtedly the stuff of music legend. Dubbed "the greatest '70s rock icon who never was", Rodriguez's life has been shrouded in mystery and myth, his formidable talent hidden from Western audiences for decades.
Now the subject of the award-winning documentary Searching for Sugar Man, this extraordinary artist will be touring the UK, with his powerful vocals, spellbinding songwriting and politically charged lyrics about inner-city poverty in downtown Detroit, which had an untold impact on a repressed South Africa held in the grip of apartheid.

Rodriguez
Rodriguez is an American folk musician from Detroit. In most of his songs he takes a political stance on the cruelties facing the inner city poor. His unique blend of psychedelic folk-rock has withstood the test of time as it still pulls at the heartstrings and pierces the collective social conscience today.
