Unlimited Festival - Samba Ceilidh

Dig out your dancing shoes, tart up your wheelchairs and 'Boomba on down' to Southbank Centre to celebrate disabled culture at its best in this unique collaboration brought to you by Lawnmowers Theatre Company, Opaxoro Da Apae and Orchestra Sertao.

Drawing on the rich popular North East traditions of Brazil and England, this project shows how learning disabled performance work builds bridges between cultures.

It is brought to you by two of the world's leading disabled performance companies. These companies take your breath away as they invite you to dance Ciranda, Samba de Roda, Lawnmowers Two Step, Witches Reel and more.

This specially created Samba Ceilidh includes highlights from their 'Boomba Down the Tyne' tour.

The Lawnmowers (Gateshead, North East England), Opaxoro (Salvador, North East Brazil) and Orchestra Sertao (Arcoverde, North East Brazil) have a vast range of skills, run workshops, tour shows, host events and engage with their communities working locally, regionally and internationally.

Samba Ceilidh is an extract from 'Boomba Down the Tyne', which is an Unlimited Commission for the Cultural Olympiad. Other partners on this project are Available Light, AV Works, Fiddlers Elbow, Rhumba Palace and Theatre Mimi.
