John Tavener: A Celebration

O where, tell me where? (UK premiere): tubular bells and chorus
The Protecting Veil: cello and strings
Song for Athene: chorus
Requiem: chorus, soprano, tenor
The Bach Choir leads a musical tribute to the late Sir John Tavener, as a celebration of what would have been his 70th year draws to a close.
One of the most popular composers of his generation, the evening includes 'Song for Athene', sung at the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales, 'The Protecting Veil', here performed by internationally reknowned cellist Raphael Wallfisch and the UK premiere of one of his last works, a meditation on three Scottish songs, commissioned by The Bach Choir.
