Fearless Nadia

Musical prodigy Ben Walsh presents an exhilarating musical and cinematic celebration of a silent-era film goddess.

Her name said it all: Fearless Nadia (aka Perth-native Mary Evans) was one of the brightest lights of 1930s and 40s Bombay cinema. A former circus performer, she came to dominate India's silver screens with her roguish charm, beauty, and swashbuckling, death-defying stunts.

Originally conceived in 2012 for the centenary of Indian cinema, composer and percussionist Ben Walsh (Tom Tom Crew, The Bird, Circle of Rhythm) fronts a 12-strong coalition of Australian and Indian musicians as they perform an energetic, percussive score set to an action-packed montage of scenes from Diamond Queen (1940), Fearless Nadia's most famous film.

Enjoy daredevil antics and propulsive, Indian-influenced tunes as Walsh's orchestra, augmented by Indian master musicians on tabla, shenai, sarangi and dholak, pays tribute to the screen queen's feats of daring.

The film is in Hindi and Urdu with English subtitles.
