Ifs, Buts And Babies

A light-hearted look at the highs and lows of being a parent, from the desire to have a baby through to the first day at school. This two woman show provides down to earth snapshots of the trials and tribulations, tears and triumphs of parenthood through original songs and duologues.

In the show, Avelia and Jill play a variety of different unrelated characters. Please note that all characters in the show are purely fictional: any perceived similarities to yourself or someone you know are probably true (if the cap fits ...?!) but purely coincidental.

The eighteen scenes use a mixture of duologue, dance and singing to portray situations that most parents can all too easily recall!

Avelia and Jill delight in utilising their vast professional musical experience, deliberately producing an eclectic mix of styles, and weaving intriguing vocal harmonies into songs wherever possible. The music and lyrics of all songs are original compositions by Avelia and Jill, created between looking after their children, performing and teaching.

Both women are now expert jugglers but look much more dishevelled than when they began the collaboration. Their children, fortunately, have learned to become quite self-sufficient! Writing has acted as therapy for both artists ... often ending in hysterical laughter and a few glasses of wine!
