In Flanders Fields
A unique evening of songs, poetry and readings from English, Belgian and German writers commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
With readings by the award-winning author, Michael Morpurgo and songs and music by the English acapella trio, Coope Boyes & Simpson and Flemish musicians of the Paul Rans Ensemble.
Featuring poems written during the war by Michael Morpugo’s grandfather, the poet Emile Cammaerts, specially-written songs by Paul Rans and Coope Boyes & Simpson, as well a selection of photographs by Thomas Sweertvaegher which were commissioned for In Flanders Fields.
The concert also sees the launch of Coope Boyes & Simpson’s new double album In Flanders Fields (No Masters NMCD46) and In Flanders Fields book with English and Dutch texts of Coope Boyes & Simpson’s songs, Thomas Sweertvaegher’s photographs and Introductions by Piet Chielens, Co-ordinator of the In Flanders Fields Museum in Ieper and Jim Boyes.
