Hurried Steps
To mark Anti-Slavery Day in October 2014, the Tri-Borough Violence Against Women and Girls Strategic Partnership is hosting two performances of New Shoes Theatre’s production of Hurried Steps. The afternoon matinee is timed to fit in with the school run.
The compelling hour-long play, is based on testimonies from real women including a case of child trafficking. The stories are inspired by testimonies reported by Amnesty International and newspaper cuttings.
Dacia Maraini is Italy’s foremost playwright, nominated for the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature. The play raises awareness of violence against women and girls. The stark no frill performance is created to provoke a discussion between the audience and a panel of local experts who work to tackle these issues in London.
Part of an International project, Dacia Maraini has written a story for this UK production.
Suitable for ages 15 upwards.
There are special rates for schools and community groups; please contact bookings@newshoestheatre.org.uk for more information.
