Jamaica 50 Festival: Jimmy Cliff + Oneness + Derrick Morgan + Max Romeo
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jamaica's independence in spectacular style, London's IndigO2 will play host to the Jamaica 50 Festival with some of the most iconic reggae, ska and dub artists appearing together on stage during a twelve-day event.
Despite being a small island state, Jamaica's cultural impact on the world and musical legacy vastly outweighs its size as the Jamaica 50 line-up testifies.
Arguably overshadowed by the rise of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff continues to enjoy a successful career that's seen him record 20 albums and boasts two of the biggest worldwide reggae hits; 'Wonderful World, Beautiful People' and 'You Can Get It If You Really Want'. With a respected sideline in movie acting, most notably in 'The Harder They Come', 2002 has more recently seen him scoop the 'Contribution to Urban Music' MOBO award.

Born Max Smith in 1947, hooked up with Kenneth Knight and Lloyd Shakespeare, in mid sixties Kingston and The Emotions were born. It is perhaps Max's solo material including the infamous 'Wet Dream' single, widely regarded as launching a new sub-genre, that took a hold of the reggae music scene. The rest has mushroomed from there.
