Monday Night Jam And Jazz Workshop - Lullaby of Birdland

The Hideaway's jazz workshops are perfect if you want to hone your skills within a group environment.

The main focus on the sessions is on learning how to play and phrase the melodies and how to tackle improvising over the changes. Vocalists are welcome and for tunes with lyrics please bring them with you. For tunes without lyrics charts are made for vocalists with vocal parts to sing along with.

Time is spent looking at getting each song up to 'gigging standard'. Participants look at how to perform the tunes: counting in the band, who solos where and in what order, how to start and end the pieces and all other things you need to know to perform these tunes on a gig.

All instruments and standards are welcome, but please note that a basic knowledge of your instrument is required.

The workshop is followed by a free entry jam session led by saxophonist Duncan Eagles.
