Jamie Partridge & Lynton Talbot - Two Persons Show

Lynton Talbot

Talbot appropriates found materials and objects with common associations to the built environment into sculptural assemblages that reference the language of architecture and the way in which we experience and ultimately inhabit it. Thinking in terms of installation rather than autonomous artwork, Talbot encourages the viewer to consider the work with a multiple sense of scale.

Simultaneously using objects lifted directly from a site, still resonating with a past function, or obliquely revealing through a sculptural enquiry how urban design is a carrier of meaning, Talbot highlights how this is negotiated by us all daily. Rather than a diagrammatic representation of architectural styles, from post war utopian concrete to the homogenized corporate vernacular of urban re-development, Talbot suggests these works could operate as maquettes, impossible proposals for the world outside of the exhibition space and the tropes of sculpture.

Jamie Partridge

Partridge’s work takes the form of sculptures, photography, painting and drawing, walks and tuition groups, but mainly concentrating on films unified by a critical approach to the culture of wildlife and nature, often represented through his own life and personal memories and experiences. Projects are informed by regular walking and a methodical attention to all of the details of nature.

Concepts emerge intuitively whilst scrumping out of doors and stem from the interior monologues that accompany this activity, however nothing remains intact or uncontaminated, human language, animal utterance and mistaken over-hearings of natural voices all become intractable.
