Rent: A 48 Hour Production
Rent is a rock musical with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson, loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
After a successful debut project of 'Spring Awakening' in 48 hours, Purple Summer Theatre are taking on this beloved cult musical with a young talented cast of 16-25 year old actors. The cast, crew and band are all given rehearsal materials at 7:00pm on Friday 2nd January, and the performance begins at 7:00pm on Sunday 4th!
With a live band, and set in the round, this performance of Rent is set to be electrifying for those new to the show, and those with more than a few productions under their belt!
