Will Newsome
Charismatic boat restorer and Bristol ferryman Will Newsome is one of the great up and coming names in English folk song. His instrument is however, somewhat unexpected; the West African Kora. This is joyous music, both intimate and ecstatic.
Where as some Kora playing is reminiscent of later blues music, Newsome's take shows more reminiscent of the Celtic harp, but still with a sense of West African rhythm underpinning. This is complemented by Newsome's simple, yet intense vocal delivery.
