Congo Dia Ntotila
Congo Dia Ntotila formed in 2010 after a series of jams between John Kelly and Mulele Matondo. As a sound developed, it soon became clear that a full band should be formed out of this. Calling on musicians across the UK from both African and Western backgrounds, Congo Dia Ntotila began to further refine their sound.
The emphasis is on the favourite rhythms of the central African dance floor - Congolese Rumba, Zouk, Cameroonian Makosa etc., all with their highly sophisticated intermingling guitar parts - but with stronger elements of jazz and Latin American music. This is aided with a live horn section (reminiscent of the early days of Congolese Rumba), and a driving rhythm section that could make anybody dance...
