Jonathan Dove The Monster in the Maze

In the last concert of the 2014/15 season, the LSO Youth Choir and LSO Community Choir join the LSO under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle in a new work by Jonathan Dove, and Walton’s First Symphony.

Written eighty years ago, and partially premiered by the LSO, this tempestuous work reflects the turbulent emotions surrounding the composer’s complicated love life at the time, especially in its overtly malicious scherzo, and ardent slow movement.
