London Jazz Festival: Stomping And Singin' The Blues: Macy Gray + David Murray Big Band + Jay Phelps
Hot on the heels of a performance to a packed crowd at the Back2Black Festival, Macy Gray joins saxophonist David Murray’s roaring big band in a blues-and-soul-drenched set of covers – from Metallica and Kanye West to Willie Dixon and James “Blood” Ulmer – and songs by Macy herself.

Securing a record deal after a stint as a highly sought-after session vocalist, having recorded her first demo almost by accident, huge international success quickly followed Gray's first album; 'On How Life Is'. She combines raw, honest lyrics with a polished, funky soundtrack giving her songs a double-edged appeal. Unique, oddball, original and crazy, but, most definitely, very special.

David Murray Big Band tour dates
Jazz trumpeter Jay Phelps is at the forefront of the young and creative generation of jazz musicians in the UK, with an instantly recognizable warm and projecting tone. A Vancouver-born Canadian, Jay was tutored by the city's top jazz and classical trumpeters and distinguished himself early on as the youngest band leader in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival's history.
'Jay always brings that soulful vibe' (Wynton Marsalis).
