Jazz singer/songwriter Kevin Fitzsimmons and his respected musicians (described by Jazzwise Magazine, in their recent review of Fitzsimmons' album, as "the cream of UK straight-ahead jazz musicians") blend West Coast cool, hard swinging, blues-tinged ballads, all in the space of a relentlessly entertaining set.
They present carefully-chosen material reconstituted with taste and verve, delivering a sassy new take on standards by likes of Mercer, Strayhorn, Jobim, Legrand, Ellington & Co; some new jazz translations of anthems by likes of The Beatles, John Martyn, Sam Cooke, Billy Preston, Paul Weller, plus originals (some co-written with Jools Holland saxophonist, Derek Nash).
