Wild Flowers
Franny Conlin‘s gritty, hard-hitting yet honest drama Wild Flowers is making its debut performance at the Epstein Theatre. Written by Franny Conlin and directed by Russell Parry this is a poignant reminder of Liverpool’s own history or its very own identity.
Described as a hard hitting, emotive drama set in Liverpool during the Liverpool Dockers’ Strike of the mid 90s, Wild Flowers is a retrospective piece about a time when work and family life were often one and the same.
James Lavelle (Russell Parry) the youngest of two brothers in a family of dockers, is a young man who loses his way in life, branded a scab after crossing the picket he soon finds himself involved with the ‘wrong crowd’ following a dangerous path.
The play explores the emotional and physical impact within the Lavelle family as a result of the tormented brother’s actions.
Conlin’s gritty portrayal of this trying time is lightened by 10 original songs and delivered by a set characters with their own stories to tell.
