Imagining The Birth Of Art: Robert Filliou's 'Whispered History Of Art' As Thought Experiment
This talk links Filliou's 1963 Whispered History of Art - at once a poem, installation, performance piece and recording - with the shifting views surrounding the antiquity of 'art', in particular the ideas of André Leroi-Gourhan and Georges Bataille.
Given that our picture of the emergence of art continues to vary and shift thanks to new finds and new methodologies, Filliou's playful poem remains relevant today.
