About this event
Octernal is a brand new all day event carefully curated by a group of promoters whom all of which want to rock your socks off. We all have our favourite artists that we want to share with you and Octernal Festival is our serendipitous vessel that will make that happen.
Taking place on the 19th October, across 3 stages; Brudenell Social Main Room, Brudenell Games Room and Left Bank Church, there will be a menagerie of acts ranging from bazouki rock to caveman battle doom, from psych folk to slacker indie, from drone to post punk. Every earholes a goal!
With their debut album, Veronica Falls have crafted a brilliantly concise, superbly concentrated hit of spiky, marvellously contagious indie pop with a twist. These are songs which will lodge themselves in your head as well as your heart, with style and attitude to burn.
Veronica Falls tour dates
Bleached, a new band from Jessica and Jennifer Clavin, formerly of L.A. outlaw lady band Mika Miko. Think Ramones bubble-gum, Merle Haggard country, and 60's psychedelic rock.
Bleached tour dates
Poltergeist are an instrumental dynamic power trio featuring original Echo & the Bunnymen members Will Sergeant on guitar, Les Pattinson on bass, and also featuring Nick Kilroe on drums. “We create a form of rock music with its toes paddling in the progressive ocean foam of the sixties and seventies and its head in the bone dry air of the present day" said Sergeant. "There are 12 notes in a scale and we intend to use most of them."
Poltergeist tour dates
"They've danced right through the boundaries of their already-unhinged, euphoric, wonderful sound."
Pitchfork, May 2013.
Islet are experimental, psych-prog adventurers from Wales. The fearless art-breakers are known for their explosive live shows and DIY philosophy.
Islet tour dates
Galaxians combine elements of classic New York boogie, early 80s electro and synth-funk in songs such as 'Fire And Magic' and 'Electroads'.
Galaxians tour dates
Filthy Glaswegian tech from ex-members of Take A Worm For A Walk Week, Lapsus Linguae and Project Venhell.
Rungs tour dates
A three piece indiepop band from Leeds. David Kitchen (The Acutes, Angry Sandwich) plays a baby Yamaha keyboard through a mighty speaker, Adam John Miller (Manhattan Love Suicides, The Medusa Snare, The Wednesday Club) plays fuzz bass and Eddy Lines (Manhattan Love Suicides, Downdime) plays drums. A collaboration project that quickly took on momentum, the result is an uptempo blend of lo-fi pop, krautrock and dancefloor indie.
T.O.Y.S. tour dates
Heart-Ships' 2011 saw the beginnings of a voyage that looks set to blossom into something very special indeed in 2012. With support from the NME, Drowned In Sound and the BBC ringing in their ears, the Leeds based 6 piece are embarking into the studio with James Kenosha (Pulled Apart By Horses / Grammatics / Dry The River) to record their debut EP. Live they're a bristling, rugged proposition balanced with a delicate emotional inner fragility.
Heart-Ships tour dates
A monstrous, gut-wrenching explosion of bass, beats and bent logic, Big Joan are a law unto themselves. Conceived amid the gutrot and psychic degradation of forlorn Southampton, they have emerged from gestation in Bristol as one of the city's most exciting bands. Three Englishmen and a girl from Berlin, Big Joan combine a raw, stripped down punk-rock assault with a rhythmic sensibility that is all their own.
Big Joan tour dates
5 Piece Band from Bristol combing strut, energy, sarcasm & filth to create a unique blend of Punk/Garage/Alt/Rock.
With live shows infamous for colourful language, bodily fluids and the ritual humiliation of audience members, BBC Introducing in Bristol have declared their set as "The most spectacularly committed performance I've seen in a long time".
The St Pierre Snake Invasion tour dates
Downbeat, dark and enchantingly melancholic rock for fans of Isis, Pelican, Battle Of Mice and Bossk.
Latitudes tour dates
