National Dirty Otter Day: Fang Island + Tangled Hair + Blacklisters + No Spill Blood + The Rivals + The Physics House Band + Axes + Tobias Hayes
The Brooklyn-based indie rock outfit, Fang Island, crafts impossibly heavy, hymn-like anthems that blend the uplifting and accessible hard rock melodiousness of Andrew W.K. and the D.I.Y. recording style of Surfer Blood with the offbeat tech-heavy progressive metal of bands like Protest the Hero and Sparta.
Formed in Providence as an art project while the members were all attending the Rhode Island School of Design, the band (comprised of guitarist Jason Bartell, bassist Michael Jacober, guitarist Chris Georges, guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sadler, and drummer Marc St. Sauveur) released its eponymous debut album through the Sargent House label in early 2010.
Fang Island tour dates
Blacklisters formed in 2008, quickly earning a reputation as a formidable live act through aggressive, confrontational performances riddled with dark humour. Their music has drawn comparisons to the Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Pissed Jeans and Kong.
BLKLSTRS tour dates
A four piece garage band playing fuzzed up original riffs with more than a nod to the late 60s legends. Bass-heavy blues jostling for space on the boulevards with 5/4 cafe jazz. Think French lyrics, barrelhouse piano, reverberating guitars and heavy rhythms.
The Rivals tour dates
A Brighton instrumental space/math rock trio, who incorporate elements of 70s jazz fusion and electronica.
The Physics House Band tour dates
