Ballet Nimba

A high octane dance display from West Africa, rooted in tradition and mythology, and performed by young contemporary artists.

Featuring potent musicianship, soaring vocals, outstanding percussion and rousing West African rhythms, Bagatai was inspired by Idrissa Camara’s recent trip back to his father’s homeland where the Baga peoples occupy a narrow stretch of marshy lowland along the Atlantic coast of the Republic of Guinea and Guinea-Bissau.

It delves into the often secretive world of the Baga, a people revered and even feared for their art and beliefs. Expect traditional masks, and colourful costumes.
