Apples & Snakes
A national performance poetry organisation which operates from Battersea Arts Centre. Now thirty, with a national staff of 14, Apples And Snakes continues to stretch the boundaries of poetry in education and performance, by inspiring participation and giving voice to a diverse range of spoken word artists.

Orbital
Dance music is too narrow a term for the genius of the Hartnoll brothers. Capable of both rib-shaking, energetic techno and incredible multi-layered ambient soundscapes, and blessed with a godlike genius when it comes to their DJing sets, Orbital have succeeded Kraftwerk as the Kings of techno and electronica.

Basement Jaxx
They'd been about for a little while (remember 'Fly Life'?) but anyone on the dancefloor in 1999 would have found the funky progressive house rhythms of monster club hit 'Red Alert' irresistible. Producers, remixers and DJ duo Simon Ratcliffe and Felix Buxton had arrived, and followed 'Red Alert' with hit album 'Remedy' and a string of other club winners. Their 2002 return saw them win Best British Dance Act at the Brit Awards thanks to top 10 hits 'Romeo' and 'Where's Your Head At?'. The cream of UK dance music.

David Byrne
David is well known for his ground breaking and adventurous solo albums, for the genre smashing music of the Talking Heads albums and as well for his eclectic and adventurous label Luaka Bop. He has toured throughout the world and worked with a vast number of directors, choreographers and musicians including Brian Eno, Twyla Tharp, Robert Wilson, the Wim Vandekeybus and Jonathan Demme.

Spiritualized
Formed out of the ashes of the sadly missed Spacemen 3. Spiritualized have consistently made music that epitomises the phrase 'Junkie Cool'. Amazing songs about life, death, love, sex, drugs and the big guy upstairs. Live they are incredible and could have anything from a small horn section to a full orchestra to back them up, and a pretty cool light show too.

Friendly Fires
Friendly Fires lie somewhere between the poppiness of Snap!, the funkiness of Prince, and the electronic dance-iness of Daft Punk. Friendly Fires were the first unsigned band ever to play Transmission on Channel 4, shown on 9th November 2007. Their self-titled debut album was nominated for the 2009 Mercury Awards and the band have since gone from strength to strength, nominated for two Brit Awards in 2010, and releasing their Top 10 album, 'Pala', in 2011.

Norman Jay
The man behind the Good Times soundsystem used at the Notting Hill Carnival, regular DJ on London 94.9FM and co-founder KISS FM. Norman also takes his brand of deep, soulful house to Miss Moneypenny's, and is a much-respected DJ across the country. Norman was awarded the MBE in the Queen's honour's list 2002 for services to music.

Born in Turin and trained at the Conservatorio in Milan, composer/pianist Ludovico Einaudi's music has been described as minimalist, classical, ambient, contemporary and deeply touching; the welcome sound of stillness in a hectic world.
A former pupil of Luciano Berio, his hauntingly beautiful and evocative music has kept him among the best-selling and most requested recording artists, particularly in the UK and Italy. His output has included ballets, operas and soundtracks as well as his specifically-conceived piano albums.

Leading avant garde saxophonist since the 1960s when he collaborated with the legendary John Coltrane. Briefly turned to the standard repertoire in the late 1980s and has since worked with Coltrane's second wife, Alice.

Mr Scruff
Initially inspired by the 2 Tone sound, the now legendary Ninja Tune DJ, Mr Scruff is famed for his awesome hip-hop sound, his epic six-hour sets and his sense of the comic. His sets are a mixture of deck-related wizardry and animated tom-foolery and will leave even the most hardened of anti-dance music critics grinning and boogieing the night away.

Tom Middleton
One of the eclectic and talented DJs who is also a producer and remixer of merit. He is a classically trained in piano and cello, giving him a deep understanding of musical theory He is one half of The Jedi Knights with production partner Mark Pritchard and is aka Cosmos. He is equally at home with electro, breaks and nu-jazz as he is with deep and funky house.

Alex Horne
A hugely talented, diverse young comedian whose shows are cerebral, witty and meticulously researched, full of quirky ideas and cracking puns. His solo show, Making Fish Laugh, at the 2003 Edinburgh Festival earned him a Perrier Award nomination and has brought him a much deserved higher profile on the comedy circuit.
