Breaking The Code
Alan Turing was an eccentric, free-thinking, marathon-running, patriotic English mathematician. He also led the team of WWII code breakers who cracked the complex German Enigma codes. And he broke another code - society’s taboo against homosexuality.
Turing’s work and that of the Bletchley Park team remained secret after the war and it is only recently that he has stepped out of the shadows.
Turing would probably be wryly amused that he’s now globally recognised as the father of the digital computer - and equally revered for his stance against repression.
This deeply affecting drama tells the singular story of a very modern hero. It plays out as tensely as a thriller - lightened with a dry wit and a very British sensibility. This is theatre at its most immediate, telling a true life story.
