The Kilmarnock Edition
Scotland’s most exciting music sound for many years, emerged from the Burnsong International Songwriting Competition of 2009 and comprise five of Scotland’s most original singer songwriters, all well known in their own right: Yvonne Lyon, Lisa Rigby, Alex Hodgson, Roberto Cassani and Fiona J Mackenzie.
Signed to the Greentrax major Scottish label, the band have just released their debut album “Pay It Forward”, an eclectic fusion of contemporary Scots, English and Gaelic sounds, blended smoothly with a tinge of jazz and reggae and finished off with a flourish of folky world roots.
Roots magazine recently described their sound as “ Poppy folk and folk inflected pop….. bubbles with exuberant musical variety, gentle humour and vivacious pleasure. The sheer range of musical styles brings back fond memories of Wildcat Theatre shows and Fairground Attraction concerts”
The band have been stunning audiences nationally with their refreshing new sound of Scottish music and will be much in demand for 2013.
