Hydro Connect Festival 2008: Oyster Stage: Kasabian + Manic Street Preachers + Amy Macdonald + guiLLeMoTs + The Whip + Howling Bells
See www.connectmusicfestival.com for more details.
Kasabian
A glorious synth-tinged melting pot of indie rock that will caress the eardrums. Formed in Leicester while still at school, they took their name from Linda Kasabian, one of the members of the Charles Manson cult. Their electronica-indie rock fusion akin to Primal Scream combined with the rough vocal style and unrepentant Mancunian swagger of Oasis has firmly established them as more than just a flash in the pan and injected a large dose of energy back into the Brit-rock scene.

Manic Street Preachers
Despite the much-publicised trials and tribulations they've gone through, James, Sean and Nicky remain the Kings of the Welsh music scene. Highly ideological, extremely patriotic and outrageously popular, having produced classic indie/rock cross-overs such as 'A Design For Life', 'You Love Us' and 'Motorcycle Emptiness'. Music with a message from a trio who've earnt the right to sing it.
Manic Street Preachers tour dates
Amy Macdonald
Since her rise to fame in 2007 with her debut album 'This Is The Life', the Award-winning and multi-platinum selling Scottish songstress continues to take the world by storm with her brand of rootsy folk-rock.
Amy Macdonald tour dates
Guillemots
Epic, tuneful music, as bizarre as it is beautiful, Guillemots take the audience on a journey through a melting pot of synth, strings and jazz breaks with an overlying melody that breaks your heart and rouses, all at the same time. As odd as the Flaming Lips, but as sweet as Elbow, gUiLLeMoTs are quirky, experimental and vastly entertaining to watch.
Guillemots tour dates
The Whip
Deliciously dark electro-pop from Manchester four piece The Whip, whose music is a heady mix of disco beats and eighties synths. 'Cool metallic pop. Bunker-busting hooks…' - NME
The Whip tour dates
Howling Bells
Lurching from blues-fuelled rock to country folk lamentations, Howling Bells produce a sound drenched in warm feedback and dried in the desert sun. Drawing inevitable comparisons to the likes of PJ Harvey, vocalist Juanita Stein's delivery is silky, sultry and utterly intoxicating.
