Beverley Musical Theatre

Following the success of last year's production of The Sound Of Music Beverley Musical Theatre present Fiddler On The Roof, a show which has been seen by 30,000,000 people since it was first staged in 1964.

The story is based around the Russian village of Anatevka, where all the
villagers follow the Jewish faith and adhere strictly to the Traditions and customs of their culture, which guide their lives; what can be eaten, what to wear, the Sabbath prayer, who can interact with whom, especially with regard to Jewish/Russian relations.

One of the main traditions is the use of a matchmaker who arranges the marriages of the young people in the village.

The story unfolds as we follow Tevye, a humble milkman, his wife Golde and his five daughters. Tevye speculates IIf I Were A Rich Man and tries to uphold the traditions to the best of his ability. But times are changing and the traditions begin to be questioned and tested by 3 of his daughters and along with outside Russian influences, Anatevka changes forever.

Fiddler on the Roof is a show which can be enjoyed by all members of the family. It is a humorous, thought provoking and glorious musical filled with very familiar songs and wonderful characters.
